PARIS, Maine -- Game wardens and state police were investigating
the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old woman by a hunter.
Megan Ripley was shot in the chest at about 4 p.m. Thursday in
woods at the edge of a field near her house on Christian Ridge Road,
authorities said. She was pronounced dead an hour later at Stephens
Memorial Hospital in Norway.
The hunter, who was wearing a blaze-orange vest, was not
identified. The Sun Journal newspaper of Lewiston quoted the man as
saying, "I am never going to hunt again."
