OH - 16-year-old boy shot while deer hunting

December 18, 2006

MOUNT VERNON — A 16-year-old Fredericktown boy was accidentally shot Saturday while deer hunting.

According to Knox County Sheriff David Barber, 16-year-old Eric C. Lyons of Fredericktown shot himself in the foot while unloading his shotgun.

Barber said Lyons was the second person shot in the county during deer-gun season, with the first being a county employee struck in the arm by a stray deer slug while driving his truck near the entrance to Apple Valley on Nov. 27.
