GANADO - A 14-year-old Ganado boy, who is described as an avid
outdoorsman who never met a stranger, was found unresponsive
Saturday near a deer stand during a hunting trip on his family's
hunting lease near Lolita.
He was later pronounced dead at Memorial Medical Center in Port Lavaca.
Jackson County Sheriff's Office investigators are trying to
determine how Jacob Jay "Jake" Neumann died, but declined Monday to
go into details of the case.
"While people have been calling it a hunting accident, it isn't
typical of what a person might think," said Darren Stancik, Jackson
County Sheriff's Department investigator. "There were no firearms
involved. It will probably be a few more days before anyone can make
a definite determination in ruling the cause of death."
