At about 10:00 a.m. Christmas Eve Jonathan Hicks, age 16 of
Greeneville, was shot in the foot when he allowed his rifle to
discharge.
Hicks and his hunting companion, William Ricker, age 36 of
Greeneville, were deer hunting off Leadmine Rd. near Baneberry in
Jefferson County, when the accident occurred.
According to reports, Hicks was un-cocking his lever action 30-30
rifle with the safety off, when the rifle discharged. Hicks was
transported by Wings to the Johnson City Medical Center.
