An 8 year old Nacogdoches County boy is receiving treatment for
gunshot wounds after a weekend hunting accident. The accident
happened in the western part of Shelby County. The child was hit
with bird shot in the upper body. Tonight he is in Houston's Hermann
Hospital after being air lifted from Nacogdoches.
Game wardens do not know the child's condition, but say adults
with the child at the time of the accident immediately got medical
attention. According to Game Warden Derek Nalls this is the first
hunting accident of the season in Shelby County. He doesn't suspect
any criminal activity at all.
