Man dies in Milton hunting mishap
November 24, 2007
MILTON, Vt. --Police say a 43-year-old man shot and killed Friday
appears to have been the victim of a hunting accident.
Milton Police Detective Paul Locke says David Jenkins died late
Friday afternoon after being shot while hunting with two friends in
woods about 4 miles north of the town center.
Friends say Jenkins, who was single, was a lifelong resident of
Milton and was a school maintenance worker in neighboring Colchester.
They say he was an experienced and careful hunter who always told
companions to be sure of their target before firing.
It was the first fatality of Vermont's 2007 deer season, which ends
Sunday.
