Logan teen shoots self while hunting

Fourteen-year-old Jacob Jensen, Logan, suffered a non-life threatening wound Friday while hunting north of Logan.

According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Jensen accidentally shot himself in the calf of his leg with a .22 caliber pistol while in pursuit of a raccoon at approximately 2:30 p.m. He was transported by Logan Rescue to Alegent Health Community Memorial Hospital, Missouri Valley where he was treated and released.

The DNR does not anticipate filing any charges relating to the incident, said spokesman Kevin Baskins.
