Hunting accident
Special to The Review
WEST POINT — A Lisbon man was injured Saturday morning after being
struck by a bullet in a hunting accident.
Dave Freeman, 59, of Johnson Road, was struck by what witnesses
reported as a ricochet slug while he was hunting near the rear of
Mundy’s Tree Farm in West Point, according to a sheriff’s report.
Deputies received the call at 9:48 a.m., and arrived to find
Freeman sitting against a tree talking. Freeman was reportedly hunting
with five other hunters when they fired on a deer. Those present
reported that one of their shots likely ricocheted.
Freeman was transported by a Stat Medivac helicopter to a local
hospital. The investigation was handed over to the Ohio Department of
Natural Resources (ODNR). No charges were filed from the incident.
