Iberville Parish Fatal Hunting Accident

A Lafayette man hunting near the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge dies in
a tragic accident.
It happened along the interstate near Ramah, in Iberville parish.
In a wooded area, amongst a chaotic scene, stood a family
mourning the unexpected loss of their loved one the 38 year old man
disappeared Sunday morning on a hunting trip. Deer hunters were out
on a hunt and when one of them was overdue; they started searching
for him and for a while, couldn't find him.
But shortly after, deputies say, the group of hunters discovered
his body along an old bridge. Officials say it was just a tragic
accident.
Officials say his ATV slid off and fell off of an embankment near
the water, and rolled on top of him. The water and woods made it
difficult for deputies to get to the man's body. They had to bring
in rescue teams to help pull him out.
Deputies say, the man was from Lafayette but hunted in the area
near the Atchafalaya basin bridge not too far away from where his
family and friends stood to watch their loved one get taken away.
Officials have not yet determined if the cause of death was
drowning.
