ROWESVILLE, S.C. - Officials are investigating the death of a teen in an apparent hunting accident near Rowesville on Thursday evening.

The 16-year-old was walking through the area when he was shot by someone between 6 and 7 p.m., according to S.C. Department of Natural Resources Lt. Robert McCollough.

The teen, whose name was not released Thursday evening, was apparently hunting when the incident occurred, McCollough said. But details were still being pieced together by officials.

The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office, Coroners Office, Emergency Medical Services and Emergency Services all responded to the scene.
