Hector Township, Potter County - Pennsylvania State Police based in
Coudersport say they're investigating the accidental hunting death of an
older man that happened on Thursday afternoon.
Troopers say 78-year-old Thomas Kinny of Norton, Massachusetts was
hunting near the intersection of Strait Road and Douglas Road in Hector
Township. They say he was climbing into his tree stand before he fell.
Kinny then got his leg stuck in the crook of the tree, hanging upside
down for approximately 3 hours until his hunting partner found him.
After Kinny was helped out of the tree, he slowly became unresponsive
and went into cardiac arrest.
Kinny was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy is underway.
