Fatal shooting appears to be hunting accident
PEMBROKE - A 48-year-old Pembroke man died Friday in what authorities
suspect was a hunting accident.
The Genesee County Sheriff's Office said a preliminary investigation
indicates that the victim, John E. Stocking, was hunting pheasants with
a shotgun in Darien Lake State Park when the incident occurred at about
3 p.m.
A call was made to Genesee County 911 indicating someone had suffered
a gunshot wound, and the Sheriff's Office and several emergency crews
responded.
Stocking was located in a field between Sumner Road and Route 20 by
members of the Darien Fire Department. The investigation is continuing.
