Franklinville man, 23, dies in hunting accident

HUMPHREY - A Franklinville man was fatally shot in a hunting accident at about 9 a.m. Sunday off of Bloy Road.

According to Timothy Whitcomb, under-sheriff with the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Department, a hunter was accidentally shot in the stomach by his brother.

The investigation is being handled by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation which was not able to provide any more detail about the accident by press time.

Mr. Whitcomb said the shooting has been ruled an accident and that he was not aware of any charges at this point.
