The victim of a tragic accident in Saint Martin Parish is now at
rest. Tuesday funeral services were held for Archie Vicknair.
Investigators say Vicknair was duck hunting with his son Saturday
morning when he fell out of the boat and died. Agents with Wildlife and
Fisheries say the two were in a boat in Basin Lake, near Catahoula when
it happened.
Officials tell us Vicknair's young son, Ridge, jumped out of the boat
to help his father, but couldn't hold his dad above the water.
That's when investigators say Ridge let go of his father and swam to
shore to get help. He found help, but when the group got to the boat,
they found Vicknair face down in the water. Vicknair was 36 years old.
