Hunting Accident Kills Man Victim Died Of Gunshot Wound

TRANSYLVANIA, N.C. -- One person was killed in a hunting accident in
a wooded area off Turkey Pen Road near Brevard, N.C., according to the
Transylvania County Dispatch.
The Transylvania County Sheriff's Office confirmed that a Hispanic
male was found dead near the Henderson County line.
Dispatch said the victim died from a gunshot wound.
The call came in just after 1 p.m. from a secondary party that was
also in the woods with the victim.
The U.S. Forest Service and the North Carolina Wildlife Resources
Commission are assisting the sheriff's office with the investigation.
"Although the investigation is continuing, at this point it appears
to be a tragic hunting accident," said Transylvania County Sheriff David
Mahoney.
No other details are being released at this time. The identity of the
victim is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.
