LAKE CHARLES (KPLC) - A hunting accident turns tragic in Cameron Parish. 7 News has confirmed that the Cameron Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting death involving two hunters. Cameron Sheriff Theos Duhon says they responded to a call for help around 8:49 Monday morning off Highway 27 just a mile west of Cameron Prairie Refuge.

Sheriff Duhon says the two men were hunting on private property when one of the men accidentally shot the other. 43 year old Patrick Hebert was declared dead at the scene. The name of the shooter is not being released at this time, but Sheriff Duhon says it appears to be an accident. Officers continue to investigate and will forward the case to the District Attorney's office for review.
