NYS: No outdoor recess during hunting season
No outdoor recess during hunting season: On a November morning in
1995, a hunter's stray shotgun slug crashed through a classroom window
in Rush and sprayed glass onto the 40 first- and second-graders inside.
No one was arrested in the incident and no one was seriously hurt, but,
13 years later, Leary Elementary School in the Rush-Henrietta district
still does not allow students outdoors for recess during deer hunting
season.
