Published: December 28, 2008

A hunter died after he accidentally shot himself Saturday in Prince George County, authorities said.

Frank Donnie Marsee, 55, of Petersburg shot himself in the leg with a 12-gauge shotgun about 12:30 p.m. in the Brandon area of Prince George.

After he was shot, he called another person in his hunting party for help and also called his son, authorities said.

Marsee was taken by ambulance to John Randolph Medical Center in Hopewell, then flown to VCU Medical Center.
