Man Fatally Shot While Hunting

CEDAR RAPIDS - A man has been fatally shot while hunting in Delaware County, Sheriff John LeClere said.

Ronald Lawson, 18, was shot while hunting about a mile north of Dundee about 12:30 p.m. Monday.

LeClere said that a member of the hunting party was doing random target practice when he fired a shot that hit Lawson. At the time, Lawson was out of sight behind dense foliage.

The incident remains under investigation by the Delaware County Sheriff's Office and the DNR.

Dundee is about 55 miles north of Cedar Rapids.
