Man Shot in Chest in Hunting Accident 

A man is shot in the chest while out hunting in Western Jackson County...Authorities say 37 year old Eric Bass was shot accidentally while pheasant hunting Saturday afternoon. They say a member of Bass' hunting party was trying to shoot a raccoon that had been fighting with one of the hunter's dogs, when a bullet struck Bass in the chest area. He was treated at a local hospital and released. No charges are pending.
