IL: Deer Hunting Accident

Deer Hunting Accident; Numerous Vehicle-Deer Accidents Reported
The first deer hunting injury has been reported in the area. Jefferson
Rural Firemen say 31-year-old Jonathan Burkholder of Ewing received apparent
minor injuries when falling 20 feet from a tree stand Saturday morning. The
accident occurred at 13-84 Log Cabin Road east of Ina. Burkholder was taken
to Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon for treatment of injuries.
Area police departments are reporting numerous vehicle-deer accidents.
Jefferson Rural Firemen say a motorcycle collided with a deer on Route 37 at
the Old Salem Road north of Mt. Vernon early Saturday night. The driver was
taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon for treatment. State Police
say reports are not yet available on the wreck.
