Laf. man shot while hunting
A Lafayette man remains in the hospital today after being shot while deer
hunting Sunday in Carroll County, according to the sheriff's department.
Joe Irwin, 42, was shot in the abdomen at approximately 6 p.m. Sunday
while hunting with Todd Combs, 45, of Rock Creek Township. The pair was
approximately one mile north of Rockfield, a town northeast of Delphi.
Irwin was taken by medical helicopter to South Bend Memorial Hospital. At
last report, he was in surgery and listed in serious condition, according to
the Carroll County Sheriff's Department news release. No further details
were available this morning.
The sheriff's department and Indiana Department of Natural Resources
officers are continuing to investigate the incident.
