Hunter shot in Shawano County
Authorities in Shawano County are investigating a hunting accident in
which a hunter was shot in the upper right arm on Saturday afternoon.
According to a press release, the hunter was taken to Wausau Aspirus
Hospital Center for treatment.
Authorities said the accident occurred early Saturday afternoon in the
Town of Bartleme. Hunters were conducting a deer drive when one of the
hunters mistook another member of the hunting party for a deer and fired his
weapon.
Wardens for the state Department of Natural Resources and the
Stockbridge-Munsee tribe, as well as the Shawano County Sheriff's
Department, are investigating.
Sunday is the final day of the gun deer hunting season.
