Newtonsville Man Shot In Deer Hunting Accident

A Newtonsville Ohio man was shot by his son Tuesday evening in a deer hunting accident at 4613 Byers Rd. in Monroe Township.

The Richland County Sheriff's Office says John Middleton, 46, was driving out a deer for his 11-year-old son when he heard a gunshot. He felt a sharp pain in his abdomen and realized he had been shot.

Middleton was taken to MedCentral Mansfield Hospital where he remains in serious condition in the intensive care unit. The sheriff's office says the shooting was an accident and no charges will be filed.
