Island hunter shot on opening day of deer hunting season
An island man was shot in a hunting accident just before noon Monday off
Eel Point, near Bishop's Rise and Ranger Road.
The man, who authorities would not identify, was treated at Nantucket
Cottage Hospital for non life-threatening injuries.
According to Nantucket Po- lice Lt. Det. Jerry Adams, the man was hunting
with a group of 12 to 17 hunters at the time of the incident. Monday was
opening day of shotgun deer-hunting season.
The accidental shooting is being investigated by the Massachusetts
Environmental Police.
