Stafford woman, 27, killed while deer hunting in K.G.
The person killed Saturday during a hunting outing in King George County
has been identified as 27-year-old Carrie L. Loving of the Fredericksburg
area.
The shooter was identified as 28-year-old Forrest D. Matthews, also of
the Fredericksburg area, according to Julia Dixon, spokeswoman for the
Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.
The incident was still under investigation today. Investigators will
consult with the King George County Commonwealth’s Attorney to determine
whether charges are warranted, Dixon said.
Loving was wearing blaze orange and was part of a hunt club that was
hunting on private property, Dixon said.
She was struck in the head about 10 a.m. by a single gunshot pellet while
she stood near a truck.
Loving was hit when Matthews shot at and killed a deer, Dixon said.
Loving was flown from the scene to Mary Washington Hospital where she died.
