Iowa deer hunter injured
LIBERTY CENTER, Iowa - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says a
Des Moines man has been injured while deer hunting in Warren County in
central Iowa.
Officials with the department said Saturday that 45-year-old Tony Spring
was preparing to get into a tree stand when "the shotgun he was attempting
to attach to a haul line fired, hitting him in the foot." Authorities say
Spring was hunting north of Liberty Center.
The department says Spring was airlifted to Iowa Methodist Medical Center
in Des Moines.
Allen Crouse is with the department's recreational safety office. Crouse
says hunters should make sure firearms aren't loaded when they are using
haul lines.
