Fundraiser benefits Highland man hurt in hunting accident
59 West in Highland is hosting a fundraiser for Travis Cota.
Cota, a Highland resident, was hunting in early November with a friend
when he fell from his tree stand after it broke.
According to Linda S. Bonham, a friend of Cota's, he fell about 15 feet,
landing on his back. The fall shattered several bones, pushing them into his
spinal cord.
He was transported to Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital, then transferred to
Detroit Receiving. After two major surgeries and intense rehab, Bonham said
Cota is now home and working on his outpatient physical therapy.
Cota, who is married with four young sons, is able to walk with a walker,
but still has a lot of work to do, said Bonham.
