NY: Auburn hunter injured in 2009 treestand accident
January 18, 2010
Jan. 31 fund-raiser set for Auburn man injured from tree stand accident
Family and friends are holding a fund-raising dinner for Auburn
corrections officer Sal LoMascolo, who was seriously hurt in a
hunting-related accident last fall.
The event will be from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 31 at the Ukrainian
National Club, 125 Washington St., Auburn. There will be a pasta dinner,
music by DJ Don Tavener and a live performance by Heather Lardeo as well as
an auction, raffles and door prizes.
LoMascolo, 35, suffered a spinal injury when he fell from his deer
hunting tree stand in Aurelius on Oct. 11. He was checking out the stand a
week before the bow season was to start when he was startled by some mice
that had built a nest in his stand, he said Monday.
LoMascolo was initially paralyzed from the waist down but has since
regained some movement and can walk with a cane, he said. He does physical
therapy three times a week.
LoMascolo and his wife, Natalie, live with their four children on
Turnpike Road. She teaches in the Jordan-Elbridge school district.
Dinner tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 5 to 12. Children
under 5 can attend for free. Tickets to the dinner and 50/50 raffle tickets
can be purchased in advance at Silbert Optical on Genesee Street, Auburn,
and from Nino's Pizzeria locations in Auburn, Port Byron and Weedsport.
For more information call Kathy LoMascolo at 315-406-2876, Donna Bennett
at 315-730-3246, Marki DiVietro at 315-246-6668 or Megan Vitale at
