Western Pa. boy, 8, dies after being shot on hunt
PITTSBURGH-Authorities in western Pennsylvania say an 8-year-old boy has
died a day after he was accidentally shot while hunting raccoons with
relatives.
State police said Rudy Shetler, of Fredonia, was hit in the head when a
rifle accidentally discharged at about 10:10 p.m. Monday in a wooded area of
Delaware Township, Mercer County. He was taken by ambulance to UPMC Horizon
Greenville and then flown by helicopter to Children's Hospital.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office says Shetler was
pronounced dead at the hospital shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday. An autopsy is
scheduled Wednesday.
