Man accidentally shoots self while hunting in Thermal
An unidentified man accidentally shot himself in the stomach Monday
afternoon while hunting in Thermal.
The shooting was reported about 3:30 p.m. at a ranch in the 68-000 block
of Polk Street north of Oasis.
The man shot himself while he was hunting alone and managed to get to the
ranch house to seek help, said Deputy Melissa Nieburger, spokeswoman for the
Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
Nieburger did not know how serious the man's wounds were, but said he was
coherent and talking to deputies.
The man is expected to survive.
