Sitka hunter missing for days found dead after apparent fall

SITKA -- The body of a 41-year-old Sitka man missing on a hunting trip has been found. The Sitka Sentinel reports the body of Bruce Robertson was found Monday in a steep ravine on the east side of Harbor Mountain.

Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters says it appeared Robertson fell into the ravine and died of his injuries. His body was transported to Anchorage for an autopsy.

Searchers began looking for Robertson on Friday morning.

Sitka Mountain Rescue chief Don Kluting says Robertson's body was found near the Cascade Creek drainage and the recovery required ropes and harnesses because it was not an area that could be reached on foot.
