Hunter accidentally shoots himself near Florida City

A man told police he accidentally shot himself while hunting with friends near Florida City Friday morning.

Police had difficulty finding the victim at Southwest 142nd Avenue and 359th Street, and almost got stuck in the muddy roads.

When officers arrived, three men dressed in camouflage were waiting next to a white van.

Police drove the man to a main road, where they waited for a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue helicopter to take him to Homestead Hospital.
