Hunter found dead near Boner Ranch

Search and Rescue officials found the body of a Pennsylvania man near Boner Ranch last week. He has been identified as 59-year-old Gary E. Whitsel of York Township, Penn.

Niobrara County Undersheriff Cary Gill said Whitsel was on a hunting trip before he allegedly fell off his ATV, apparently suffering a fatal heart attack near Boner Ranch. Search and Rescue officials discovered Whitsel's body roughly 40 yards away from his still-running ATV, which was stuck on a rough patch of dirt.

Niobrara County Coroner Lisa Mellott said an official cause of death is to be determined.
