Perry man dies on hunting trip
A 20-year-old Perry man died Saturday while on a hunting trip with
friends, according to the Twiggs County Sheriff's Office.
Friends returned from the woods at about 7:25 p.m. and found Travis
Roughton on the floor of an RV not breathing, said Lt. Robert Rodgers.
The group called 911. A deputy performed CPR until first responders
arrived, but Roughton was declared dead, Rodgers said.
The friends told deputies Roughton fell at about 10:30 a.m. outside the
RV, but appeared to be OK, he said.
There's no indication of foul play, but an autopsy is being performed
because of Roughton's age, Rodgers said.
"It just appears to be a tragic accident," he said.
