Authorities ID teen killed in hunting accident
GREAT FALLS Authorities have released the name of a 17-year-old Power boy
who was accidentally shot in the face and killed as his 14-year-old sister
unloaded a rifle.
Blaine County Coroner Marvin Edwards says the victim was Augustus
Chamakoon-Leigland.
Investigators say the boy had been hunting with family and friends on
Bureau of Land Management property in the Missouri River Breaks about 70
miles south of Chinook.
Undersheriff Pat Pyette says the group was wrapping up hunting at about 6
p.m. Saturday when the boy's sister was removing the bullets from her
hunting rifle. The gun discharged, killing her brother who was standing less
than 5 feet away.
A 16-year-old Malta boy, Logan Wilson, also died Saturday in a hunting
accident.
