Father shoots, injures son in hunting accident
11/13/2010
SAUK CENTRE TOWNSHIP, Minn. -- Minnesota authorities say a Melrose man
accidentally shot and injured his 14-year-old son while their group was
hunting deer.
The Stearns County sheriff's office released a statement saying
41-year-old
Robert James Gieske was hunting with his son, Taylor, and three others on
Saturday afternoon.
Deputies say Taylor was attempting to drive a deer out of heavy willow
brush. They say the father saw a deer run out of the thicket and fired.
The statement says Taylor was accidentally struck by the shotgun round
and
taken to a hospital. It doesn't say where he was hit.
A spokeswoman at St. Cloud Hospital said Taylor was in fair condition
Saturday evening.
