Two Hunters Drown In Lake Eucha

An early morning drowning Saturday took the life of two people, including
a 15-year-old boy. It happened at the Lake Eucha in Delaware County about 6
a.m.
According to the Trooper's investigation, three people were attempting to
cross the lake to go deer hunting when there boat starting taking on water
due to being overloaded.
All three people, who were wearing heavy hunting clothes and boots,
jumped into the lake attempting to swim back to shore, according to the
accident report.
A Checotah teen, Colyn L. Jones, panicked after jumping in and when
35-year-old Jonathan K. Searles turned back to help they both went under.
The other man made it safely to shore.
Although life jackets were on the boat, no one was wearing one..
