Norman Man Rescued In Hunting Accident

December 4, 2010 NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Firefighters used boats to rescue a Norman man who broke his leg after falling from a tree while removing a deer stand near Lake Thunderbird in east Norman.

Assistant Fire Chief Mike Wilson told The Norman Transcript that the man was with a friend in an isolated and heavily wooded area when he fell about 10:45 a.m. Friday.

The names of the two were not released.

Wilson said the friend called for help and rescuers used cell phones, GPS coordinates and finally boats to get to the men about 1:45 p.m. Wilson said firefighters eventually found the two after blowing the horn on the boat until the men reported hearing it.

He said the injured man was taken to a Norman hospital. His condition was not released.
