Man Killed in Hunting Accident in Bulloch County

January 08, 2011

BROOKLET, Ga. - Authorities said a 57 year-old man was shot and killed during a hunting accident Saturday morning.

The Bulloch County Sheriff's Office said it happened around 11:30 a.m. At the Arcola Hunting Club on Railroad Bed Road in Brooklet.

Investigators said Mitchell Swint of Pembroke had been shot. He was taken to East Georgia Regional where he was pronounced dead.

Bulloch County deputies and Georgia Department of Natural Resources rangers identified a juvenile male as the shooter, but said there is no evidence of foul play or criminal intent.

Swint's body will be taken to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy.

The investigation is ongoing.
