Man dies in hunting accident

BIG CREEK, Miss. (WTVA) _ A Chickasaw County man has died in a hunting accident in Calhoun County.

Coroner Jerry Wayne Fleming says 24 year old Martin Chance Alford of County Road 20 in Houston was hunting wild hogs on U. S. Corps of Engineer land with others Saturday.

He says the men had stopped after killing an animal and a gun fell and discharged as hit the ground.

Fleming says the bullet struck Alford and he died at the scene.

Alford was a member of the Thorn Volunteer Fire Department in Chickasaw County.
