Kerrville pastor dies on hunting trip
Monday, February 14, 2011
A memorial service will be held Tuesday for John A. Petty, senior pastor
at Trinity Baptist Church in Kerrville, who died from a gunshot wound last
week while on a hunting trip.
Foul play is not suspected, said Kerr County Sheriff Rusty Hierholzer,
who reported that Petty's body was discovered Friday on a ranch northwest of
Kerrville where he went hunting alone Wednesday.
An autopsy revealed Petty, 42, a married father of two, died from a
single gunshot, said Hierholzer. “We're waiting on toxicology reports and
we're going to be talking to his doctor,” he said.
A memorial service for Petty is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church at
800 Jackson Road, Kerrville.
