LITCHFIELD — A 66-year-old man is facing charges in
connection with a fatal hunting-related death at the Harwinton Rod
and Gun Club.
Danny F. Prego was charged Wednesday by state
environmental police with first-degree negligent hunting, a class D
felony, punishable by up to five years in prison.
Prego was
hunting with Richard N. Lesniewski, also of Litchfiled, on Oct. 16,
2011, at the club in Colebrook, when Lesniewski, 65, was struck.
Medics responded to a report of a man who had gone into cardiac
arrest after being shot in the back in wooded area off McClave Road
at 3 p.m., according to the Department of Energy and Environmental
Protection.
