Saint Mary's boy shot, killed in hunting accident; gun fires when
9-year-old falls

SAINT MARY'S, Alaska — An 11-year-old boy has died of a gunshot wound in
a rural Alaska village.
Alaska State Troopers say the boy was hunting rabbits with another family
member, a 9-year-old girl, on Saturday night, outside the western Alaska
community of Saint Mary's.
Troopers say the girl fell down while attempting to fire a gun, causing
it to discharge and hitting the boy.
Troopers did not release names of the children.
Saint Mary's is a village of 500 about 450 miles west-northwest of
Anchorage.
