May. 4, 2011 |
A Connersville man is in serious condition at Methodist Hospital in
Indianapolis after being shot while turkey hunting Wednesday in Fayette
County.
Mike Bannon, 34, was hunting with friend Jeremy Grizzell, 35, around 8:40
a.m. along West Allentown Road when the shooting occurred, Indiana
Conservation Officer Gary Catron said in a press release.
The men were walking an uphill trail about eight miles southwest of
Connersville when Bannon was hit by multiple shotgun pellets, Catron said.
Bannon suffered injuries to his face, neck and upper chest, he said. Bannon
was taken from the scene by medical helicopter.
Kevin Bramer, 41, of Laurel was identified as the shooter by Indiana
Conservation Detective Sgt. John Cannarella, according to the press release.
Bramer was using turkey calls and was stationary at the time of the
shooting, Cannarella said.
Indiana's 2011 spring turkey season began April 27 and continues through
May 15.
