LANDER, Wyo. (AP) – Authorities say two hunters who were missing
in central Wyoming amid wintry weather have been found alive.
52- year-old Dean Staszak (STAZ’-ik) of Lander was on foot when
he came upon a rescue party that was just organizing to search for
him Sunday morning.
His condition wasn’t immediately available.
A helicopter picked up 53-year-old Harold Yennie of Rock Springs
later in the day and took him to a hospital for treatment for
dehydration and frostbite. He was found about five miles from his
pickup.
The men were hunting separately and had been missing since
Friday.
Rescuers encountered deep snow, high winds, whiteout conditions
and mud on Saturday. Fremont County Sheriff’s Captain David Good
said it was a miracle that both hunters were found alive.
