DES MOINES — A Milo hunter was mildly injured Sunday afternoon
after falling from a tree stand in Warren County, prompting Iowa
Department of Natural Resources officials to urge safety when taking
to the woods.
Kenneth Crow, 31, was treated and released for an ankle injury at
a Des Moines hospital after falling approximately 15 feet while
hunting Sunday afternoon southwest of Milo.
The tree stand Crow was using had been left in the woods since
last season and the straps broke due to exposure to the weather. He
was not wearing a safety harness.
“He (Crow) was pretty fortunate. The injuries could have been
worse,” said DNR Recreational Safety Officer Allen Crouse.
