NEW MADRID, MO (KFVS) -
A man was shot through the leg while deer hunting Sunday.
New Madrid County Sheriff Terry Stevens says two brothers were
hunting in the New Madrid area when one of the brothers was shot
through the leg with a gun.
Stevens says the man was air-lifted to a Cape Girardeau hospital
and is in stable condition.
He says the bullet passed through the man's leg, but did not hit
any major arteries or bones.
The sheriff's department ruled the shooting an accident and will
not be seeking charges.
The case was turned over to the Missouri Department of
Conservation.
Firearms season for deer hunting in Missouri begins Nov. 12. The
youth portion for firearms deer season began Nov. 5.
