MONTEZUMA, Iowa—
A 20-year-old man has been shot while hunting deer in
east-central Iowa's Poweshiek (POW'-shihk) County.
The Iowa Natural Resources Department says Dalton Hicks, of
Montezuma, was flown to a hospital in Iowa City on Tuesday
afternoon.
The department says Hicks was hunting with six other people south
of Montezuma around 3:30 p.m. when one of them took a shot at a
running deer.
The slug hit Hicks.
The department is investigating the incident.
Authorities say at least four other people have been wounded
while hunting in Iowa in the past several days.
