The man left a round in the chamber, and it discharged as he got into his truck, state police said.

York, PA - A Felton man accidentally shot himself in the leg while hunting in Hopewell Township this week, State Police said.

David Fletcher, 53, of Cool Creek Road, was getting back into his truck in the 9500 block of Church Road on Wednesday when his gun went off, said Trooper Michele Davis, state police spokeswoman.

Fletcher had left a round loaded in the chamber. The bullet struck him in the leg and exited through the car door, Davis said.

The man was taken to York Hospital for treatment. The Pennsylvania Game Commission assisted with the response.
